BREAKING NEWS: Phnom Penh Extends Restrictions for Another Two Weeks

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Capital Administration has decided to extend the restrictions in the capital for another two weeks. The ban on alcohol sales and gathering of more than 15 people as well as the closure of high-risk businesses are set to expire on Thursday. However, the capital’s administration has announced an extension for another two week a day before it expires.

The administration says that they have seen a need to extend these preventative measures as the capital continues to record a high number of Covid-19, especially the Delta variant. Phnom Penh is the highest among 23 provinces and capital with the number of Delta cases. As of Tuesday, the Ministry of Health says that Phnom Penh has already recorded 375 Delta variant of Covid-19.

Phnom Penh Capital Administration has also reminded the public that the high-risk businesses remain to be closed are schools, entertainment businesses such as karaoke bar, disco, garden and casino, resorts, museums, playground and amusement parks. It also includes massage spas, cinemas, art theatres, gymnasiums and sports centres.
